This Saturday, September 23, at 2:50am in the Northern Hemisphere,
the autumnal equinox will take place marking the official end of summer
and the beginning of fall (autumn). This event occurs at the moment the
sun crosses the celestial equator – the imaginary line in the sky above
earth’s equator. At that instant, earth’s rotational axis is neither tilted away
from nor towards the sun.
I’m not sure how much of that information was important to you? The
only thing that may interest you is that summer is over and fall is beginning.
To some, like me, fall is their favorite season. The crisp air the beauty of
the changing leaves the end of the extreme heat of summer are all
appealing to me. To others it is a dreaded time of year that indicates the
extreme heat of summer is over and cooler temperatures will prevail. I find
it fascinating how the exact same event can cause some to rejoice and
others to weep. God designed the changing seasons as evidence of His
masterful creation but allows mankind the freedom to embrace or chastise
the way He has ordained His creation.
I find great comfort in recognizing that God, the Creator, has established
order out of chaos and this order is quantifiable. Science agrees with this
measurable fact yet in many cases refuses to attribute this undeniable fact
toward a Masterful Creator. The odds of such a quantifiable occurrence
coming together out of coincidence takes much more “faith” than belief that
only through an Intelligent Designer could the amazing universe maintain
such measurable order.
Today as you consider pausing at noon to Bend-A-Knee in prayer may
you celebrate the Creator God. It doesn’t’ matter if you are embracing the
change in season or despising it, the evidence of God’s handiwork is
unmistakable through His created order. Praise, the acknowledgement of
God as God, goes well beyond our agreement with His masterful plan it is
about celebrating God as God. It is a celebration of His sovereignty and
undeniable love for His creation. May you praise God completely just
because He is God and release yourself into His bountiful care.
Stay connected to God & to others
God’s Peace,
Pastor Mike
