Bend-A-Knee Weekly Sermon 05/02/2024

Today is the National Day of Prayer. In 1952 President Truman signed a
bill requiring each successive president to declare a National Day of Prayer
on a day the current in-office president deemed appropriate. In 1988, the
law was amended to make the first Thursday in May the National Day of
Prayer. Yesterday, the first Wednesday of the month, the Bishop of the
Evangelical Congregational Denomination (Of which Clark’s Valley Zion is
a part) has declared the first Wednesday of each month as a day of prayer
& fasting toward the denominations desire to become a dynamic movement
of God. On Thursdays you receive a Bend-A-Knee posting to encourage
you to spend time in prayer to the Creator God.
As I have said in the past: One’s faith cannot be legislated or mandated.
All of the prayer opportunities listed above cannot be mandated or
legislated but they do serve as opportunities and reminders to take
advantage of God’s invitation to His children. Prayer is a gift from God
allowing us, as undeserving as we are, the opportunity to enter into His
Throne Room of Grace. God has granted an open invitation to come to Him
with our heartfelt desires and concerns. I am continually overwhelmed that
the Creator of everything would be concerned about what I am concerned
about. His immense love for mankind is evident in that He is aware of our
everyday lives and is genuinely concerned about every aspect of our lives.
Today as you consider pausing at noon to Bend-A-Knee in prayer may
you recognize the enormous privilege granted to you to come before the
Almighty God. May you be overwhelmed by His invitation. I want you to
know that God loves you, in spite of you. His desire is for you to spend
undivided time with Him. God truly wants to hear you articulate your heart-
cry, just as any parent wants to hear the same from their child. Your Daddy
awaits, with open arms for you to confess your sins, seeking His
forgiveness, as He restores your relationship with Him. May you not decline
His invitation of opportunity.
You are encouraged to attend the National Day of Prayer event tonight at
CVZ from 6:30-7:30pm – the prayer stations will be open during the hour.

Stay connected to God & to others

God’s Peace,

Pastor Mike
