Bend-A-Knee Weekly Sermon 03/14/2024

Have you ever thought that you must be such a disappointment to God

knowing all that He has done for you? Have you ever voiced these words or thought: “How can God possibly love me? I am such a failure!” In an attempt to live life in a way that honors God, you take two steps forward and one, two, maybe even three steps back! It seems like you are constantly struggling with the same sinful behavior; you want to do better, be better, but just wanting to overcome doesn’t result in actually making the changes that are necessary to alter the direction of your life that will allow for impactful change.

I want you to know that God loves you in spite of you! That God is not disappointed in you but for you. His desire is for you to live an abundant life and He realizes that the poor decisions we make result in many of the struggles we encounter in life. His heart breaks to see us wallow in the muck & mire of life when He has provided for us to be able to flourish in spite of the difficulties of life. God never promised that living a life that honors Him would result in smooth sailing without any rough seas; what He did promise was that He would always be with us through every rough patch in our lives.

God’s enormous love for you is so great that He allows you to struggle according to your chosen path. I know many of you would rather have Him immediately rescue you from any hardship or prevent the difficulties of life all together; but God is love, and love always demands a choice. Please know that God feels the pain of your hardships and no matter how difficult the road He never abandons you. In His great wisdom He recognizes the opportunities and benefits that accompany each and every struggle we face allowing for fuller maturity to be attained.

Today as you consider pausing at noon to Bend-A-Knee in prayer may you embrace God’s love for you. May you feel the strength of His mighty arms as they wrap around you to support you as you deal with the struggles of life. May the power of His presence sustain you and grant you the assurance of His ever-abiding care.

Stay connected to God & to others

God’s Peace,

Pastor Mike
