Bend-A-Knee Weekly Sermon 02/22/2024

Ruth likes to put puzzles together; our dining room table is filled with puzzle pieces. I, on the other hand, am not a fan of putting puzzles together; to me it is a frustrating endeavor. I suppose if I would stick with it enough, I would feel the satisfaction of completing the puzzle. I know some people frame the finished puzzle they have put together displaying their completed masterpiece. Ruth and I know a fellow pastor and his wife who open the box the puzzle is in and dump out the pieces and then put the box out of sight, putting the puzzle together without the use of the picture displayed on the box. I would suggest if you want a real challenge turn all the pieces over and put the puzzle together without any distinguishing markings on the pieces.

Life to us is like a puzzle turned up side down. We struggle figuring out how the pieces of our life fit together because we don’t have a view of the final picture that each piece is creating. Although we struggle to figure out how the pieces of our life can come together to make anything resembling a beautiful picture, the wonderful fact is that God sees the finished work of our lives. He delights in the masterpiece He has created within us.

Each day we have been given the opportunity to color another piece of the puzzle of our lives. To us, the kaleidoscope of seemingly mismatched pieces fit together haphazardly; our view is incomplete and it appears to us as a mismatched, disarrayed image of chaos. But God sees us differently. He rejoices in the beauty of our lives coming together day by day.

Today as you consider pausing at noon to Bend-A-Knee in prayer may you thank God for His view of your life. It is so easy for us to become discouraged because of our limited view of our lives. God, on the other hand, can see the beauty we are creating and the ripple effect of how our life impacts others. We may desire a glimpse of the picture our lives are creating but may we simply be content to color each piece of the puzzle of our lives in such a way that a vibrant display of God’s handiwork is evident. Allow God to fit the pieces together into the masterpiece He is creating of our lives.

Thank you, Father, for the beauty you can create from each piece of our lives. Each day does count, each piece is important toward the final picture. Praise God that He can make beauty out of our chaos.

Stay connected to God & to others

God’s Peace,

Pastor Mike
